It appears that the SEO game has changed and if you want to rank for a semi-competitive keyword you are required to have to have some of the most spammed content in the world(Lorem Ipsum) and an exact match domain.
Search for ‘seo dundee’ on Google.co.uk
WTF are you playing at Google?
You are killing sites that are far better than this yet you allow this to rank that are still under construction with one ‘no follow’ back link. Are these really the sites that you want Google users to find when they do a search for SEO Dundee? Probably so you have a better chance of selling them AdWords!

What Google are doing right
In my opinion the website that is in position 1 certainly deserves to be there.
Hit Reach produce amazing online marketing content that people want to link to and revisit and if they can replicate these results for their clients, they will almost certainly produce amazing results. Make sure you read their interviews with search marketing leaders.

I think the EMD algo update just hasn’t rolled out fully, this exact thing happened on the web design dundee SERP, however this is an extreme situation. I am guessing it’s just an SEO test.

Martin, you may be right but there have been so many dodgy results returning after Panda & Penguin. Google finally opened the flood gates to allow people to rank that don’t actually care about their site. At least if someone is investing money in SEO, there is a good chance that they will make their site semi-decent. Also, if it is a test it has shown some good results and has proven that Google still have a lot of things to sort out.

I find this pretty amusing as well. I provide SEO in Dundee and I also noticed this guy was top for the SEO Dundee term and found the site under construction which as you stated makes a bit of a mockery of big ole Google. Only thing to do to get this site punched down the rankings is to do more SEO. Simple really. Im on the case

I forgot to say and I dont know how to edit my last post, i really think the term SEO dundee is not important in any way as no one types it in to find companies who do SEO in Dundee as the layman dosnt know what SEO is mostly so they type website optimisation companies in Dundee which is why i SEO’d my site for it and am also first for this.
Hi Barry, thanks for the reply but I disagree with your point. SEO Dundee is a much better keyword to be ranked for in my opinion. You can use Google’s keyword tool to get a rough idea of the amount of people typing in that particular keyword, SEO Dundee wins hands down. It is not purely a numbers game, as you also have to think of the searchers intent, but in this case I think the keyword SEO Dundee would generate more business compared to website optimisation companies in Dundee… Most people do not know what SEO is, but a lot of business owners do and marketing departments do. When someone sets out to try and find out how to increase their search engine rankings, they will type something like ‘how to increase search engine rankings’ into Google and quickly discover they need SEO, they don’t discover that they need something called website optimisation..
My goal now will be to get higher rankings for SEO Dundee. If your right I will make more money. If not i wont. I totally agree with you about people coming to an end result when doing searches and finind out what they need to type in. I always tell my clients when I am talking about hwat they should be ranked for that the searcher will be doing research and come to an end term that they will use to find the specific thing they use. Maybe im not using my own advice this time and looking it from the first search term used and not the final post research term. SEO Dundee will now be my goal. I should be at least top within 6 months from now – time will tell
